| Talus Adds Extra Weekend To Summer With Community Picnic To Benefit Montana CAAN |
|
Missoula, MT ? August 27, 2008 ? Labor Day traditionally marks the official end of summer fun. The kids are back in school and life returns to the daily grind. But this year, there’s an extra weekend to enjoy the great outdoors, thanks to the Family and Friends Games for Autism presented by Talus Outdoor Tech. Everyone is invited to this FREE and very family-friendly event happening Saturday, September 6, 2008 at the Historical Museum at Fort Missoula. The museum is located in Building 322 on South Avenue, across from Big Sky High School. There is no charge for entry or activities, and all proceeds from donations and food at the event will go to the Montana Community Autism and Aspergers Network (MT CAAN), a parent-driven organization dedicated to supporting individuals and their families dealing with Autism. It all kicks off at 11am and lasts until 3pm, with live music from local bluegrass and folk specialists, The Workers. There will be plenty of games to entertain the kids, including tug o’ war, freeze dance, a water bucket relay, water balloon toss and much more. Pulled Pork BBQ sandwiches, hot dogs, and ice cream will help everyone refuel for a full afternoon of fun. Dealing with a diagnosis of Autism is difficult, and many families feel isolated in their struggle. According to The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 1 in 150 children have Autism, making it more common than pediatric diabetes, AIDS, and cancer combined. And the cause of Autism is still unknown. MT CAAN provides information, financial support and a sense of community to help these families stay connected and strong, but they can’t do it without the generous support of local businesses and individuals. The Family and Friends Games for Autism is a great way to have fun with neighbors and relatives while supporting a very worthy cause, and Talus is proud to sponsor this event.
